Standing on formality with a brother was hard to do, and given the way Kurt had completely forgone his rank--Maine wasn't even sure if his rank was displayed on the uniform with how much of a non factor it was in Pfl--it was pushing impossible. Maine slipped into a more comfortable stance and nodded at the question.

"Be dead if not for augments," he says, more a prediction than a certainty. The words stung going down but he powered on. He hadn't seen a SPARTAN in forever, and PFL didn't foster the tightness SPARTAN had. "Multiple gsw to throat. Should be dead."

Doesn't need to say that Kurt should be as well. Not his place to question. Even if he is more intrigued than he has been in... well, ever.

"Anyone know?" he asks instead, gesturing to Kurt in general. "John might not appreciate being outranked by a Green Team."
